Jax Economic Snapshot

The latest Jax Economic Snapshot (from JaxUSA Partnership)  highlights key figures in Employment, Consumer Data, Housing Data and Airport Activity in Northeast Florida, and covers up to August 2015. The report shows how the First Coast compares to the rest of the nation, as well as the state of Florida and includes year over year (Y/Y) comparisons. Jacksonville scored high in several sectors, including high scores in employment gains, construction activity and increased airport traffic. A link to the report can be found here: JAX ECONOMIC SNAPSHOT (August 2015 Data). Key figures included are summarized below:

  • EMPLOYMENT: Jax MSA employment up +2.8% (US Avg. is +2.1% Y/Y); Leisure/Hospitality and Education and Health Services both saw the largest gains
  • UNEMPLOYMENT: Jax MSA unemployment down -1.2% (FL and US Avg. is -1.1% Y/Y)
  • HOUSING: Median home sales price in the Jax MSA increased 7.1% Y/Y (US Avg. increased by 4.7% Y/Y)
  • CONSTRUCTION: Single family building permits increased by +14.2% Y/Y (US Avg. at 11% Y/Y and FL Y/Y change of 7.2%)
  • AIRPORT: Airport passenger traffic up +7.7% Y/Y (88 daily departures and 9,092 daily seats)
