Wawa One Step Closer to Coming to Jax

It would appear that Wawa has taken one more step towards coming to Jacksonville. According to COJ Building Inspection Division Chief, city officials met with an architect and civil engineer a few weeks ago to discuss general procedure. No plans or sites were submitted as of yet, but it appears that Wawa is looking closely at Jax. This comes after years of speculation as to if and when the convenience/gas chain may come to Jax. The chain already has a FL presence, with the closest store in Port Orange. Wawa is on pace to open 25 stores in 2015, and there are plans to open another 25 in 2016. The company has a goal of reaching 180 stores in Florida by 2019.

Wawa is a privately held company that operates over 700 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.

Karen Brune Mathis with the Daily Record covered the story.
