Shad Khan’s Plans for the Shipyards Revealed at Jaguars State of the Franchise Address
Shad Khan unveiled the long anticipated plans to develop the 48± acre site known as “The Shipyards” at the Jaguars State of the Franchise address on Tuesday, February 17th. The plans call for a mixed use development on the Northbank property, which would include residential, office, retail, restaurant, hotel and marina components, as well as public park and entertainment space. The plans also incorporate The USS Adams, a retired Naval ship being converted to a floating museum. The plans pay tribute to the maritime heritage of the area, and were developed by Populous, a design firm who focuses on mixed use and specialty developments. Timeline and costs were not discussed. Another unknown factor that was not discussed, but will be a big factor, is how much remediation will be required and when can it be completed.
Andrew Thurlow with the Jacksonville Business Journal has the story, which features a short video produced by Populous, outlining the vision of the project.
