Volswagen Chooses JAXPort As Southeast Import Hub

VW has chosen JAXPort as its import point for an annual 100,000 VWs, Audis, and Bentleys made in Europe and Mexico and will also export Passats and a large SUV fromits Chattanooga, TN plant.  That will create about 100 local full-time jobs here.  JAX beat out Brunswick, Tampa and Cape Canaveral for the 5-year contract and will further establish JAXPort as the #2 port on the East Coast in terms of vehicle shipments, behind Baltimore.  Richard Webner of the Florida Times-Union has the story.
