Two amphibious-ready ships will be moving permanently to Mayport Naval Base. The USS Iwo Jima and USS Fort McHenry are both coming to Jacksonville from Norfolk. The move will have a positive impact on the Mayport area due to several new personnel in the area, rumored to possibly be as many as 2,000 people.
