Planned Re-Development of Ortega/Avondale Area Apartments Hits Opposition

A developer has plans to re-develop the 99-unit Commander Apartments and adjacent retail off Riverside Avenue near Ortega/Avondale neighborhoods with 350 new mid-rise apartments and 42,000 SF of retail space all wrapping a 5-story parking deck.  Local residents have put up some opposition.  Roger Bull of The Florida Times-Union has the story.

New Retail Center Opens Across Near JIA and I-95

Ramco Gershonson, the REIT behind the 2005 creation of the now 900,000 SF River City Marketplace, has opened Parkway Shops, across Airport Center Drive, from RCMP.  New tenants opened or soon to be include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshall’s, Ulta Beauty, and a Newk’s Express Cafe, along with BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse opening soon.  Roger Bull of The Florida Times-Union has the story here.

Reviving Downtown JAX One Vacant Building At A Time
